Our History

Blackhawk Running Club (commonly known as BRC!) originated in the fall of 2013 by a group of local community members and avid runners that wanted to share their love of running with the youth in this community. Practices were designed to incorporate running training elements with positive experiences and fun challenges, allowing athletes to set, meet, and exceed individual goals and learn first hand the benefit from being part of a running community. This early vision has grown and developed over the years and with it has brought a lot of success. We have worked with countless athletes. Some enjoyed their time with us and used their fitness and lessons-learned in other sports or adventures. We are also proud to be the roots for many of our local high school runners and collegiate athletes that have continued their love for running at Division I, II, and III schools.

Our Values

One of the unique things about the sport of Cross Country (and running in general) is that it is all about doing your best and putting in the work to be better than your past efforts. We strive to put this in the forefront of our messaging, that you get out of this sport what you put into it and that the battle is within yourself. We push each other to be our best versions of ourselves, on and off the course, and have fun while doing it!

This also means that this sport is for everyone! There is no “bench” and every athlete gets to compete at every meet! In a world of youth sports that emphasize high intensity training regimens, demanding schedules, and high cost, it has been a goal of our founders and current coaching staff to offer affordable and safe training practices, guided by knowledgeable individuals, that can help foster a love for running in our upper elementary and middle school athletes.

Our Coaches

Jolyn Baldry

Hi, I am coach Baldry. I have been a part of the BRC running community for the past 10 years, first as a parent and then as a coach. This is my 7th year on coaching staff. Running has played a role in my life in a variety of forms, driven initially out of competitiveness, evolving into a focus on healthy lifestyle and meeting personal fitness goals. I love being a part of BRC and watching kiddos make strides in their own personal running journey, learning they can do the hard stuff, and the reward of being a part of this awesome running family.

Brittany Foltz

Hi there! I’m coach Foltz. This is my third year as a BRC coach. Fort Atkinson has been my hometown my whole life and running has been a part of my life from a young age with a history of runners in my family. I am the wife to Paul and mom to five adored children whom I homeschool. I am looking forward to this season and watching each runner crush their goals.

Owen Cooper

This is Owen’s third year of coaching BRC. He started running in 7th grade, fell in love with it and ran all the way through college. He is the walking police of BRC! As of this year, all 7 of his kids will have been involved in BRC.

Megan Agnew

Coach Agnew is not new to running, but is our newest BRC coach. Megan started coaching with us in 2025. She first started running in high school and continued to compete in college at UW-Milwaukee and UW-Whitewater. After college, she continued to run in several races including 2 marathons (one in Boston!) and an Ultra-Marathon. Megan is a mom to 3 boys and continues to run and train just because she loves it! Megan is so excited to share her love for the sport with the BRC runners!
